The Yorkshire-based firm, which manufactures brands including Fab, announced late last week that following talks, workforce representatives gave their approval to an earlier company conclusion that closing the plant was “the only viable financial option.”
When launching the consultation in April 2013, R&R Ice Cream said that while there has been significant investment in the site, it is “in need of considerable investment.”
A total of 135 people are currently employed at the plant.
In a statement sent to DairyReporter.com, Yorkshire-based R&R Ice Cream said that none of these jobs are on the line.
“There will be no loss of jobs to Yorkshire as this is a re-deployment with all staff being offered jobs at R&R’s Leeming Bar site in North Yorkshire,” said a spokesperson.
R&R added that during the next phase of talks, it will discuss transport options for employees travelling from Leeds to its Leeming Bar facility.
