Dairy Australia, a new dairy industry service company, has been launched this month. The privately owned organisation is funded directly through farm levies and, it is hoped, will bring many benefits to the country's dairy producers.

Dairy Australia effectively combines the skills and resources of the Australian Dairy Corporation and the Dairy Research and Development Corporation. The new body is responsible for research and development, as well as marketing and trade development.

One of the aims of Dairy Australia is to improve the international profile of the country's dairy products. The organisation will carry out international functions such as trade policy activities, international market intelligence and marketing that were previously conducted by the Australian Dairy Corporation.

Dairy Australia will also give producers greater input into what services are provided.
