Fast take-down conveyer speeds up cleaning time

A new conveyor frame can be completely disassembled, without tools, in only three minutes, allowing processors to clean their machines and get production underway again faster.

Dorner's new mainline AquaPruf 7400 sanitary conveyor platform is the company's first attempt to directly target the processing side of the food industry, said Gary Wemmert, the company's directorof business development.

"We have had other equipment for the packaging side," he told FoodProductionDaily-USA.com.

"This is our move higher up to the processing side to make equipment for raw foodcontact.

This was truly designed from the ground up."

The AquaPruf, technically called a plastic chain conveying system, represents a significant new design change in the industry by eliminating fasteners from the conveyor.

This change removes anotherplace for loose food items to collect.

The 7400 Series uses a smooth welding in the assembly.

The elimination of bolt heads on the conveyor means there are fewer areas for loose food particles and bacteria to collect.

The company developed the frame after finding that its food and medical customers' greatest concern was cleanliness, durability and safety in conveyor systems.

"Food manufacturing is perhaps the most regulated industry in the world when it comes to cleanliness of equipment," the company stated.

"Since mainline conveyorstransporting food through any process are particularly vulnerable to bacteria growth, cross contamination and allergens, they often have to be washed down several times a day, a necessary, but timeconsuming delay in production."

One person with no tools can disassemble the 7400 Series in only three minutes, the company stated.

For applications that call for daily cleanings, taking apart the conveyor in just a few minutesis a real time saver.

Using wear strips provides fast and easy cleaning for customers.

Each piece is identical and completely interchangeable.

The frame has a stainless steel frame with no horizontal surfaces.

A sanitary conveyor system with no flat surfaces eliminates collection points for loose food items, and drains while cleaning.

Aswell, optional cutouts along the frame give open access to cleaning inside the conveyor frame and underneath the conveyor's belt.

The frame comes as an option to HabaGuard's conveyor belt, which is designed to prevent the growth of microorganisms on surfaces.

The antimicrobial in HabaGuard's plastic belt is the onlyadditive approved by US regulators for direct food contact.

Dorner is based in Hartland, Wisconsin.
