Nova Chemicals said its Surpass FPs016-C polyethylene was developed for blown film applications that require toughness without sacrificing processability.
"Our newest Surpass resin is an optimal performer in a broad range of applications that require extra toughness, such as produce and frozen food packaging, or protective film for the transportation of mobile homes and boats," stated Beth Eckenrode, a Nova vice president for business development. "FPs016-C offers customers an ideal combination of toughness and high seal strength with best-in-class melt strength."
Surpass is an octene polyethylene produced with a technology using a proprietary single-site catalyst. The catalyst system results in an easer processing system for the polyethylene, Nova claimed.
"The melt strength of the Surpass FPs016-C resin provides bubble stability, resulting in ease of processing," Nova stated. "It outperforms competitive resins in tear tests and seals at comparable temperatures. In addition, it demonstrates superior strength during 'hot tack' tests - a key benefit for high-speed packaging lines."
