Food Design taps demand for colourful confectionery
expanding its range of decorative sugar-based products for
confectionery applications.
Food Design believes that its innovative rainbow collection of brightly coloured sparkles and shimmers will continue to prove popular with the industry in the production of seasonal specialities.
The range of ingredients are designed to add texture and interest to biscuits, cakes and iced-cakes in a range of shades andhues. They have been colourfully named after precious and semi-precious jewels and metals to reflect the vibrancy of the spectrum.
Most significantly, they can be naturally flavoured or coloured.
Ruby, sapphire and silver shimmers for example could be used to decorate confectionery products designed to tap into England's world cup aspirations. The company also claims that gold, silver or bronze, in either a scatter of sparkles or as a finer spray of shimmer, can enhance the decoration of a wedding or anniversary cake.
The sparkles have been specifically developed for decorating biscuits and cakes after baking, while the shimmers work well for dusting onto biscuits both in the pre-bake and finished stages of production.
In addition, the crystals successfully retain their colour and texture when incorporated into chocolate coating for biscuits, or alternatively are sprinkled directly onto the top of chocolatebiscuits.
Food Design claims that its range has attracted a great deal of interest from manufacturers.
"I believe that not only should food be exciting to the tongue, it should be delightful to the eye and our new vivid and exciting range fulfils both criteria," said managing director Colin Hunter.
"Once again I am proud to be associated with an inspiring initiative that is a tribute to the excellent product development team of Food Design."
Food Design was launched in May 1997 and produces a wide range of fudge and toffee ingredients for the food manufacturing industry. The company designs products for many different markets and is continually developing new products either bespoke or in-house that not only involve product innovation but also process innovation.
