Zip-Pak introduces colour to ensure hermetic seal

A colour indicator and a double seal are two of the latest developments Zip-Pak has introduced to its reclosable packaging.

The developments are designed to ensure that customers can be confident that the food products are hermetically sealed to minimise spoilage and increase safety for multi-portion products.

The Color Reveal indicator feature provides consumers assurance of complete bag closure to keep foods fresher, longer, the company said when introducing the new features.

One side of the traditional zipper is tinted, while the opposite side is translucent. When the consumer closes the package, the colour shows through the translucent part, indicating that the package is completely sealed.

"This ensures that food remains protected from environmental elements that facilitate spoilage, and prevents leaks caused by improperly resealed packages," the company stated.

The Color Reveal technology is designed for packaging for sliced deli meats, sliced cheeses and prepared foods.

The other development is an resealable packaging feature applied in the transverse direction to allow packages to be easily opened while maintaining the hermetic properties of food packaging.

A special seal below the zipper and an end seal create a hermetic package that can be perforated or scored for one-step access to contents without the need for scissors or knives.

"This value-added feature allows brand owners to provide the benefits of resealable technology while protecting brand integrity," the company stated.

The zipper is designed for application transversely across the top, short side of a package. At the same time, the resulting vertical orientation allows for greater visibility of graphics and marketing messages to help boost shelf impact at point-of-purchase.

The feature is designed for packaging for multi-serving or club store portions of food products that must be airtight until consumption, including shredded cheese, pre-packaged deli meats, and prepared foods.
