Valves designed for PET moulding operations

A new series of pneumatic valves solves many of the problems unique to polyethylene terephthalate (PET) stretch-blow molding operations, according to the manufacturer.

Ross Controls says its Select 4400 series of pneumatic valves for high-pressure air uses a patented design for internal components and flowareas. The valves are designed to provide pre-blow air pressure and a controlled flow of pre-blowair. Users can select between low-pressure pre-blow air and high-pressure final-blow air.

The valve also has check functions that prevent high-pressure flow upstream into the low-pressure air supply.

All the valves are base mounted for ease of maintenance. Select 4400 units are available in port sizes of G0.75 inch and G 1 inch. The maximum operating pressure is 600 pounds per square inch pounds (PSIG)or 40 bar.

PET is one of the most widely used plastics in the food and drink packaging sector.
