Emmi acquires majority share of Nutrifrais

Emmi has reached an agreement with Switzerland’s LRG Group to acquire a 60 per cent share of Nutrifrais, in a bid to build its market share in yoghurts and dairy desserts in French-speaking Switzerland.

Nutrifrais processes around 5m kg of milk sourced from Swiss dairies every year, which processed into desserts, yoghurt and quark. It is a major supplier of milk for the TamTam brand, and holds the license to produce and distribute Yoplait in Switzerland.

Explaining the sale of the holding Frédy Currat, director of the LRG Group, said: "It is important to the LRG Group that milk processing stays in the region. From our perspective, Emmi is a strong partner for the sustainable development of Nutrifrais.”

The deal will not result in job losses, and Emmi plans to expand the dairy with a competence centre for flan and other specialities.
