New checkweighers meet HACCP requirements, says developer

Two new checkweighing scales have both been durably constructed for demanding production environments and heavy sanitary washdowns, claims their US-based manufacturer, Rice Lake Weighing Systems.

Whereas the CW-90X is at home operating in hostile working environments, the company’s CW-90 checkweigher is designed for clean rooms and dry atmosphere environments in food processing plants, said the company.

The CW-90X carries an IP69K rating, an international standard certifying toughness, and both models have NSF approval to withstand rigorous cleaning:

Our commitment to the food processing industry compelled us to obtain NSF certification for Rice Lake's CW-90 and CW-90X.”

Compliance

The public health and safety company NSF International provides advice on risk management to companies, governments and consumers around the world.

Food manufacturers are increasingly using checkweighers to ensure their products comply with legal specifications regarding pack weights. Checkweighers allow manufacturers to measure the weight of the product and reject packs that are under or over the regulatory allowance.

The over/under CW-90X scale features hermetically sealed load cells and 304 stainless steel materials. Incorporated in this model is a tough piezo keypad which has no moving parts and is made to withstand sharp knife-point contacts, said Rice Lake Weighing Systems; the keypad is resistant to all types of contaminates and liquids, it adds.

Stainless steel

The company said its CW-90 checkweigher, with stainless steel construction, is built to perform dependably and accurately to minimise profit erosion during the manufacturing process; the model includes a communication bar graph LED which indicates if a container is over weight, under weight or within an acceptable range.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems designs, manufactures and distributes industrial scale and process-control weighers through a global network of independent distributors.

In addition to checkweighers, the company also makes bench scales designed to work in food processing environments with hostile chemical or wash down areas.
