Versatility seals award for innovative vacuum can seamer

FoodProductionDaily.com talked to Alejandro Martinez, of Montajes Conserveros de Galicia (MCG), at the IPA show in Paris about its innovative vacuum can seamer.

The Spanish company’s sales manager explained how it met the challenge to develop a system for use in irregular can lines, some round can applications and also in aseptic environments.

The technology, which won the IPA packaging innovation award, is targeted at the fish, processed meat and shellfish segments. Future applications are slated for milk powder, coffee powder and nuts - with the company looking to incorporate a gas chamber to facilitate these.

Work is also ongoing to boost the current prototype performance from100 to 300 cans per minute.
