New Tetra Pak cap eases pouring of dairy products, company claims
The Twist Cap OSO 34 (One Step Opening) is the largest closure released for a standard gable top package of 70x70mm without changing any configuration of the package, Christina Chester, Tetra Pak’s Carton Gable Top product director told DairyReporter.com.
“With the wider neck TwistCap OSO 34 is ideal for more viscous products,” said Chester.
“Lots of dairies produce yoghurt or/and milk, and a bigger closure makes the product flow easier out from the package,” she added.
The cap is currently available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Denmark and The Netherlands, and by the end of June will be available worldwide.
One Step Opening
One Step Opening is a relatively new concept for carton packages that allows the consumer to open the package in one go, according to the product director.
The cap also protects the liquid from leaking out, a function which is unique for this kind of closure, according to Chester. This is because the closure is designed with an inner lip on the neck, combined with a thin edge inside the cap, she explained.
Other improvements made to the new TwistCap OSO 34 include higher ridges which are widely spaced for a better grip, said Chester.
In addition to this the cap has improved tamper evidence “with a very clear click sound” when the tamper band is broken, she said.
Chester claims the cap also has a reduced carbon footprint as, compared to all our other closures, the cap has a lighter weight and less plastic.
As well as fitting liquid dairy products, the cap fits fresh chilled products such as fresh juice, nectars and still drinks.
The TwistCap OSO 34 can be used with the Tetra Rex 1000ml base and Tetra Rex 500ml base.
In June, the cap will also be available for Tetra Rex 1000ml Base Plus, Tetra Rex 500ml Base Plus, Tetra Tex 750ml Base, Tetra Rex 300ml Base and Tetra Rex 2000ml Max.
