The non-cylindrical can is designed to be opened with one hand. Consumers could simply flip up the lid, said WPG. Additional design options for the lid and seal gave customers more space for brand marketing, the company said.
Shoppers could easily pull the sealed aluminium membrane off the plastic edging without having to remove the lid from the can and the plastic cover kept the product fresh and well-protected, it added.
WPG said it had been making similarly-shaped cans for many years, but the newly developed hinged lid was more convenient and offered more options to ensure products stood out on shelves.
"Compared to refillable bag packs, the new packaging solution clearly enhances the product and makes it better than the cans used for competing products," said a WPG spokesman.
