2011/12 NZ milk season most productive on record
The 2011/12 New Zealand milk season was the most productive on record, an industry report has discovered.

The 2011/12 New Zealand Dairy Statistics report, which was published by DairyNZ and LIC, found that milk production in the country increased by more than 11% compared to the 2010/11 season.

In the last year, New Zealand-based dairy companies processed 19.1bn litres of milk containing 1.69bn kilograms of milk-solids – an 11.3% increased on the last season.

According to the report, the increase in milk production was the first double digit increase since the 2000/01 season.

The 2011-12 New Zealand Dairy Statistics report is based on data sourced from dairy firms, the LIC National Database, the Animal Evaluation database, the Animal Health Board Annual Report, Real Estate Institute of NZ, and Statistics New Zealand.
