A2C 'unifies' a2 milk businesses under new trading name

A2 Corporation (A2C) and its operations in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and China will from 8 April be unified under one common trading name, The a2 Milk Company Limited, the company has announced.

According to Geoffrey Babidge, managing director of soon-to-be renamed A2C, said that the decision demonstrates its "commitment to knowledge, rigor, quality and are in everything we do."

“This may appear like just a name change,” said Babidge. “For The a2 Milk Company, it reflects our journey from early research and entrepreneurial pioneers in New Zealand to a unified global identity, focused on our mission to make the extraordinary benefits of a2 dairy milk understood and available to all.”

"The a2 Milk Company unifies our global a2 family."

a2 milk is rich in a2 beta-casein protein, but contains no A1 beta-casein protein, which has been linked to digestive discomfort. Dairy cows typically produce milk containing both protein, but a2 milk is sourced from specifically selected dairy cows that produce milk containing only the A2 protein.

The a2 brand portfolio, which includes milk, yogurt, cream and infant formula, has proved particular popular in Australia. It's milk brand currently accounts around 8% of all milk sales in the country.

a2 milk brand products are available in the UK, New Zealand and China, and in February 2014, the company announced plans to launch its a2 milk in the US.

The company will continue to trade on the New Zealand Exchange (NZX) under its existing ticker code, ATM.
