“Until today, traditional packaging for long shelf-life white milk was connected with the carton, or with HDPE, multilayer solutions,” Ventelli (pictured) product manager at GEA Procomac, tells DairyReporter.com.
“Today it’s possible to have long shelf life also with PET with white milk, due to the possibility of a full light barrier, with a special ingredient…It’s possible to inject this solution into the PET during the master batch,” he says of GEA Procomac's innovation.
“It’s a very easy technical solution without any particular technology connected to it, and we obtain full barrier PET. We can dose in different concentrations to achieve different shelf lives,” Ventrelli says.
Listen to our exclusive podcast, recorded at Interpack 2014, to learn how cost-competitive GEA Procomac’s design is, the shelf life possibilities, and where in the world Ventrelli believes White & Safe could take off.
