Cornwall-based Trewithen Dairy announced yesterday it has initiated a recall of whole, semi-skimmed, and skimmed milk dated August 25 and 26, and liquid cream and clotted cream dated August 26 and 27.
In a statement, Bill Clarke, founder and managing director, Trewithen Dairy, moved to quash any safety concerns.
“We have become aware that there has been an unfortunate error at one of our farms and a small amount of cleaning product has entered an amount of our product range,” said Clarke.
“We are not aware of any danger to health due to the vast dilution of the liquid,” he said.
“However, we are taking all possible steps and precautions and have reacted immediately with an instant withdrawal and replace for products that may have been affected," he said.
Yogurt, butter, crème fraiche and buttermilk manufactured by Trewithen Dairy were not affected by the error, Clarke continued.
The company's local Environmental Health Officer and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have been informed, he added.
