Roelof Joosten, chief operating officer (COO) of FrieslandCampina's ingredients business, will replace Hart from June 1 2015, when he joins Carlsberg as president and CEO.
Hart has led FrieslandCampina as CEO since it was formed in December 2008 by the merger of Royal Friesland Foods and Campina.
Prior to that he was chairman of Royal Friesland Foods.
Under his leadership, FrieslandCampina revenue has increased from €8.2bn to €11.4bn.
“Seven years ago, I began an exceptionally fulfilling period in my working life," said Hart in a statement.
"I have derived great enjoyment from contributing to the development of FrieslandCampina. It is immensely satisfying for me to see where the company now stands and the excellent growth opportunities that lie before it,” he added.
Piet Boer, chairman of the supervisory board, FrieslandCampina thanked Hart for his years of "dedication and commitment."
“In Roelof Joosten, however, we have an excellent and experienced successor ready to take up the reins from within the organisation," Boer continued.
