Nestlé, the world's largest dairy processor, announced earlier this week that production of Nestlé 8Cubes, a product comprised of individual ice cream cubes covered in chocolate and sesame seeds, began on a new line at the company's facility in Tianjin.
It also ploughed money into increasing cold storage capacity at its site in Guangzhou, it said.
"This investment will enhance our ability to meet increasing consumer demand for our products," said Ouyang Kai, vice president of Nestlé Greater China's ice cream business.
"It also underlines our confidence in the long-term dynamics of the Chinese market," Kai added.
