The savoury ice cream, which comes in Cheddar, Branston Ripple, and Cheddar & Chutney variations, was developed to celebrate National Ice Cream Month in July.
Pilgrims Choice - owned by British cheese and butter manufacturer Adams Foods - joined forces with Snugburys Ice Cream to develop the range.
“We’re always experimenting with recipes to find new and innovative ways of eating our cheddar and thought this could be the ultimate way to enjoy cheese this summer,” said Hannah Phillips, senior brand manager, Adams Foods.
“We weren’t sure if it would work, but are delighted with how deliciously moreish and accurate the flavours are," she said.
Cheese accompaniments
Nantwich-based Snugburys Ice Cream spent weeks developing the Cheddar, Branston Ripple, and Cheddar & Chutney variations - combining Pilgrims Choice cheese with traditional British accompaniments.
Cheddar, Pilgrims Choice said, is "ideal for anyone who loves the simple taste of tasty cheddar."
Branston Ripple meanwhile combines Pilgrims Choice Cheddar cheese ice cream with Branston Original pickle, and Cheddar & Chutney is a mix of Cheddar cheese ice cream and Branston Orchard Chutney.
Samples of Cheddar, Branston Ripple, and Cheddar & Chutney will be available later this month at the Nantwich Show - home of the International Cheese Awards.
