Tetra Pak and JUST Goods launch carton bottle made from 50% paper
JUST Goods chose the carton to launch its product made from 100% spring water because it can be easily recycled into other paper products and is ideal for all kinds of beverages, such as dairy drinks, water and juice.
'A sleek shape similar to a water bottle'
Steve Nichols, vice president sales, Tetra Pak US & Canada, told FoodProductionDaily, JUST Water is the first US product available in the Tetra Top carton bottle and the first spring water in the world to be packaged in a Tetra Top carton bottle.
“The Tetra Top carton offers the convenience and functionality of a bottle with the environmental profile of a carton. Like all Tetra Pak cartons, it was designed to reduce the environmental impact in the manufacturing process through water and energy conservation,” he said.
“Tetra Top features a sleek shape similar to a typical water bottle, which makes it easy to carry around or fit in a car cup holder. The rigid top allows for more efficient stacking, storage and transportation, further reducing the environmental impact.
“It comes with a fully printable body, which offers complete customization with a wraparound billboard effect that stands out on retail shelves.”
Whole Foods Market and OTG
JUST Water will begin its national rollout next month with Whole Foods Market and OTG, airport restaurant and retail management company.
The Tetra Top carton bottle for spring water will be commercially available worldwide in the coming months. Other versions of Tetra Top are currently available in many European locations and protect a variety of products.
“Following the launch of JUST Water in Whole Foods and OTG, JUST plans to expand distribution nationally. We will also continue our efforts to increase the amount of renewable materials contained in the package,” added Nichols.
He said more than half of the Tetra Top carton is made from paper. There is also a thin layer of aluminum that acts as a light and air barrier and the cap and shoulder are made from HDPE (high density polyethylene).
Tetra Top cartons ship flat on rolls
The paper used in the carton bottles is sourced from sustainably managed forests. Tetra Top cartons also ship flat on rolls for increased distribution and storage efficiencies.
“Tetra Top is designed to protect many types of beverages—including dairy drinks, juice, flavored water and more—we expect to see a lot of interest from brands looking to differentiate on the shelf with this package,” added Nichols.
“The product is a perfect fit for environmentally conscious companies like JUST. This launch delivers to US consumers 100% spring water in an attractive, sustainable package that’s never been produced in the US before.”
Grace Jeon, CEO, JUST, added it chose to partner with Tetra Pak on its Tetra Top carton because aligns with its brand ethos.
“The carton delivers a sleek, sustainable package that not only protects our water but is compelling to our consumers,” she said.
