RPC Superfos answers Middle East trend with camel milk ice cream tubs

RPC Superfos has partnered with Al Ain Dairy Company in the UAE to launch ice cream made from camel’s milk in RingLock tubs.

Camelait comes in six flavours (chocolate, caramel, vanilla, dates, saffron, cardamom) and is available in two sizes: 125ml and 1 litre. The smaller tubs, for eating on-the-go, come with a plastic spoon built into the lid.

Camel milk is low in fat and cholesterol

The product is targeted at high-end customers because the cost of camel’s milk production is higher than that of cow’s milk. Camel milk contains a triple amount of vitamin C compared to cow’s milk and is naturally low in fat and cholesterol.

The injection moulded polypropylene RingLock tubs feature gold decoration and an image of the ice cream, using in-mould labelling.

Mohammed Ghouse Sayyad, head of plant operations, Al Ain Dairy Company, told DairyReporter it needed a packaging that could communicate its distinction from other ice creams.

Blast freezing at temperatures of -25°C

Our new ice cream looks outstanding in the RingLock tubs sending a signal of superior quality,” he said.

We are happy we took advice from RPC Superfos about putting a spoon in the lid, as it adds value to the product. We worked together with their team on developing the design, including the colours to make the tubs attract the attention of consumers.”

The RingLock tubs resist blast freezing at temperatures of -25°C.
