All of the production at Générale laitière Jugurta, in Algiers, is done on four SIG Combibloc filling machines.
In addition to two CFA 312 filling machines for filling products in the combiblocSlimline, Tchin Lait also has two CFA 124 filling machines from SIG Combibloc at the plant. A single CFA 124 machine can fill 24,000 combiblocMini carton packs per hour.
Fawzi Berkati, chairman of Tchin Lait said that with the CFA 124 machines for filling combiblocMini, the company can supply the Algerian market with UHT products in small-format carton packs that, if left unopened, will keep for a long time without refrigeration.
Growing market
The market for long-life milk products in Algeria has room for growth. At around 273m liters, overall consumption was low in 2015, but SIG Combibloc says that industry insiders expect significant annual growth of around 12% in the next few years.
It cites rising incomes and living standards in Algeria, with demand for products packaged for long life also growing.
Tchin Lait was founded in 1954 as a family business. In 1999, a franchise agreement was signed with Candia, part of the French Sodiaal group of companies. Tchin Lait is Algeria’s market leader in the UHT dairy and UHT milk products category, with a market share of more than 75%.
