Andritz, which has been supplying centrifugal separators for dairy and liquid food for 80 years, is seeing ‘a promising market’ in beer production.

In dairy, Andritz technology can separate dairy impurities and bacteria to clarify and get a better quality of milk. In beer, it can separate the beer after fermentation to have a clearer consistency ready for bottling.

Prolong shelf life

The company is enjoying success in the craft beer market offering customers technology to increase production and improve the quality and prolonging the shelf life of craft beer,” Marco Manzardo, business development manager, Andritz, told this website.

Applications include the removal of solid particles in beer.”

Andritz showcased its largest separator for dairy for skimming, bacteria removal and clarification of milk at Cibus Tec, in Parma, Italy, last week (October 25-28).

The machine can work at up to 50,000 liters per hour in full milk skimming and is used by all the major dairies across Europe, said Manzardo.

Centrifugal force

The working principle behind a centrifugal separator is by using centrifugal force to separate two liquids with different density and remove the solids that are contained within the liquids,” he added.

The solids that accumulate within the ‘bowl’ are ejected at pre-set time intervals according to the amount of solids that have to be removed.

Everything takes place automatically and can be set by the operator allowing for continuous operation and greater separation efficiency.
