UK Society of Dairy Technology has new president

The Society of Dairy Technology (SDT) held its 73rd annual general meeting earlier this month in the UK, with outgoing president Dr John Tuohy handing over to Soeren Vonsild, from Danish consultancy company Alectia.

In his inaugural address, Vonsild said he aims to widen participation in the society and create a system for members to record their continuing professional development (CPD) activities via the SDT website.

Vonsild said that he was excited about the opportunity to make a difference to the UK dairy industry.

“I see our society as the home for all UK dairy professionals and my aim is to make us more relevant and interesting to our members over the next two years,” Vonsild said.

“In particular I will be reaching out to the Eden students and graduates, as they are representing the skills and commitment that the industry needs for a stronger future.”

Project Eden is a three-year dairy technology foundation degree at Reaseheath College in Cheshire.
