New yogurt for Sweden
Finnish company Valio is launching its Valio Gefilus yogurt brand in Sweden. The series includes three yogurts: Gefilus Naturell, Gefilus Strawberry Pomegranate and Gefilus Peach.
The products are only sweetened with fruit and berries. In addition, they contain vitamins D and B12 and are lactose-free.
A strawberry, pomegranate and apple variant is available in smaller ‘yogurt shots.’
Gefilus is a series of dairy products for the whole family containingthe bacterial culture LGG that stays longer in the stomach. It also has added calcium, whichcontributes to the normal functioning of digestion.
Recommended price per one-liter pack is 24.50 kr ($2.81) for Gefilus flavored yogurt; 22.50 kr ($2.58) for Gefilus natural yogurt; and the Gefilus yogurt shots are 17.95 kr ($2.06) for 4 x 100ml.
Eatlean Protein Cheese Snack Bars
UK cheesemaker Joseph Heler has extended its Eatlean range into the snacking and convenience sector with Eatlean Protein Cheese Snack Bars.
Protein Cheese contains 45% more protein than regular full-fat Cheddar (typically 25g/100g), and 90% less fat(typically 34g/100g).
Each bar has 11g of protein and only 1g of fat.
Eatlean Protein Cheese Snack Bars will initially be launchedin selected Morrisons stores in the UK, with a 210g pack size comprising 7 x 30g bars
Kefir variant launched
Bio-tiful Dairy has launched a Strawberry and Grapefruit Kefir Smoothie in UK retailer, Sainsbury’s.
The variantwill be in more than 200 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, in 250ml bottles located in the new front of store breakfast fixture.
The Strawberry and Grapefruit Smoothie joins the existing Bio-tiful Kefir range featuring organic and conventional milk varieties of original Kefir and Baked Milk Kefir, as well as its two existing Smoothies: Morello Cherry Kefir Smoothie and Honey & Mint Kefir Smoothie.
Bio-tiful Dairy now sells more than 60,000 bottles per week and is available inmajor retailers across the UK, including Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Ocado, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market and Selfridges.
Chobani unveils ‘Smooth’, its first non-Greek yogurt
Chobani has entered the non-Greek, classic yogurt space in the US with its “Smooth” product line.
The new low-fat yogurt is made by lightly straining it to keep the protein that's naturally found in milk — using a blend of live and active cultures and probiotics, Chobani said.
The new line of products is available in five flavors: peach, strawberry, vanilla, blueberry, and black cherry for an SRP of $1.79.
Organic Valley introduces two new flavors of grassmilk yogurt
In the US, Organic Valley has added two flavors - black cherry and peach - to its grass-fed yogurt line in single-serve cups.
The yogurts contain 6g of protein per serving, as well as calcium, omega-3 and CLA fatty acids, and live probiotic cultures.
The new flavors of Organic Valley Grassmilk Yogurt cups will be available in July in natural food stores, food cooperatives and major grocery chains nationwide with a SRP of $1.69.
Yoplait develops French-style yogurt
General Mills-owned Yoplait unveiled its French-style yogurt called “Oui,” made by pouring ingredients into individual glass pots that set after eight hours, producing a thick, creamy yogurt, the company said.
It only usesnon-GMO ingredients, including whole milk, cane sugar, fruit and yogurt cultures, without any artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.
Oui comes in eight flavors: plain, strawberry, blueberry, black cherry, vanilla, coconut, lemon and peach.
Tillamook refreshes packaging of premium ice cream
Tillamook County Creamery Association has completed a redesign of its Super Premium line of handheld ice creams, gelatos and frozen custards.
Renamed “Special Batch”, a cream band around the lid ties the entire line together to help consumers identify Tillamook Special Batch items on-shelf and differentiate it from Tillamook 56 oz. Premium Ice Cream.
Tillamook also introduced two flavors to its small-batch ice cream line: cardamom almond butter and frosted carrot cake.
Special Batch products are available at Albertsons in the Pacific Northwest and Southern California; Safeway in Northern California; Pacific Northwest and Phoenix, Raley’s in Northern California; and Kroger in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado, with a suggested retail price of $3.99 to $4.49.
Baskin Robbins debuts Polar Pizza flavor
Baskin-Robbins' mint chocolate chip Polar Pizza features a double fudge brownie crust and mint chocolate chip ice cream topped with Oreo cookie pieces, fudge and marshmallow.
The flavor is available in a cup, cone, milkshake or layered sundae.
Polar Pizza joins the company’s Oreo Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich Cake product, a chocolate-flavored frosted cake topped with Baskin-Robbins' Oreo Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches.
Roland Barthélemy launches cheese varieties in US
Cheesemonger Roland Barthélemy introduced a collection of eight "haute fromagerie" cheeses from Franceto the US market.
The Roland Barthélemy Signature Collection includes La Fromage au Bouchon (from the Dordogne region); Le Montagnard des Vosges (featuring local cow's milk from the mountains of Vosges); Le Bleu de la Boissière; Severac (produced by a third-generation family-run farm in Auvergne); Esquirrou (from the southwest Basque region); Etorki Reserve (a semi-soft cheese made with pasteurized milk from Manech Ewes); Maroilles Fauquet; and Boursault (a soft ripened, triple crème produced in the Loire Valley, Boursault).
The premium cheese line will be available at Whole Foods, Wegmans, Fairway, and Murray's Cheese Shop in the fall.
LaClare Family Creamery introduce new packing and products
LaClare Family Creamery has introduced consumer-friendly packaging and extended its product line of goat feta and goat mozzarella. The refreshed packaging features new colors and a goat on its label.
The LaClare Creamery icon system was created to communicate to consumers that LaClare uses local milk from well-cared-for goats, the company said.
