The dairy cooperative said after investigating production options, it has decided that Endrup Dairy will serve as a maturing center and packing center for cheeses in the future.
Production ended at Endrup June 30, 2017 after long-term economic problems at the small cooperative, leading to Arla’s takeover in September.
The production of several of Endrup's cheeses will now be moved to Tistrup Dairy, and the cheeses will then be transferred to Endrup Dairy to mature and be packaged.
Arla said that with the new agreement, the dairy will continue to operate, and the nine staff will be able to retain their positions.
Jakob Bernhard Knudsen, country manager for Arla Denmark said the solution means Endrup Dairy can continue as dairy with focus on cheese storage and packing, which benefits customers who want the “unique storage and taste from Endrup,” and that it is also an economically sound solution for Arla and Arla shareholders.
