The appointment was made at the Arla Foods board of directors ordinary board meeting on May 24, 2018, following Hantoft’s decision to retire from dairy farming and the sale of his dairy farm in Ösarp, Sweden.
Nørgaard, 58, who has a dairy farm in Skærbæk with 485 cows, said he is looking forward to working closely with the board and the management of the company on continuing the development of the Arla Foods.
The new chairman has been a dairy farmer since 1982 and an elected representative in the cooperative since 1996. In 1998, he became a member of the board of directors in MD Foods and since 2000 he has been a member of Arla Foods board of directors. In 2011, he was appointed vice-chairman of Arla Foods.
By July 2, Arla said its board of directors will also have named a vice chairman.
