Amcor Rigid Plastics president to start in November

Amcor has hired Eric Roegner as president of Amcor Rigid Plastics, starting in November.

Roegner will take over from Mike Schmitt who has been in the role for 11 years, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, US.

Following the transition period, Schmitt will become executive VP, Amcor continuing to manage the Bericap North America joint venture, remaining as executive sponsor of certain Amcor global customer relationships and support the integration of newly acquired Bemis.

Roegner previously worked for 12 years at Arconic, (formerly Alcoa Corporation) which develops, engineers and manufactures materials and components for the aerospace, automotive, commercial transportation, packaging and other industries.

He was most recently, executive VP and group president of the $6bn Arconic Engineered Products and Solutions business. Prior to that, he was a partner at McKinsey & Co.

Both Roegner and Schmitt will report to Ron Delia, CEO, Amcor and serve on Amcor’s Global Management Team.
