Sidel’s Super Combi prepares manufacturers for the Smart Factory of the future

Sidel’s Agility 4.0 program comprises five pillars; the Virtual Factory; Connected Factory; Smart Factory; Sustainable Factory; Extended Factory.

Here, in an exclusive interview with Raffaele Pace, VP product and platform management, Sidel, he talks about changes within the industry regarding 4.0 and IoT (Internet of Things) and how its Super Combi smart technology prepares manufacturers for the Smart Factory of the future.

Consumer preferences

According to Pace, the Super Combi makes life easier for producers of water and CSD beverages, thanks to its integrated data-driven intelligence.

The next generation technology integrating five process steps: preform feeder, blower, labeller, filler/capper and cap feeder into one smart system.

Consumer preferences are broadening and overall demand is increasing due to unprecedented population growth, increased consumer spending power and growing demand for personalisation of products in terms of design and taste,” said Pace.

The ability of production technology to satisfy output requirements for new products efficiently, while implementing technologies that improve long-term viability, has become vital to manufacturers’ success.

Intelli-adjust

Pace said nowadays beverage producers want a technology that does the thinking for them and acts on their behalf.

Advantages of the Sidel Super Combi includes; the Intelli-adjust controlling the system’s performance and automatically applying adjustments where they are needed.

Reduced maintenance time and minimal downtime thanks to the augmented reality guidance and GPS localisation and improved reactivity of the operator due to an automated alert system through the EIT (Efficiency Improvement Tool).

Sidel Group, along with Gebo Cermex, will join Pack Expo International in Chicago from October 14-17, showcasing its packaging lines in the beverage, food, home and personal care sectors. A special focus will be on its EvoDECO flexible labeling portfolio and its Super Combi.
