The Dutch Royal FrieslandCampina N.V., has acquired Spanish cheese co-packer and distributor Millán Vicente.

The deal will further strengthen FrieslandCampina’s position in supplying cheese to Spanish and Portuguese consumers.

Millán Vicente is a leading Spanish cheese co-packing and distribution company based in Zaragoza, a main logistical hub in Spain. The company was founded in 1995 by its current CEO Antonio Millán and provides a wide variety of Spanish and other cheeses to retail under its own brand, and to hotels and foodservice. It also exports Spanish cheeses.

Millán Vicente has been a partner of FrieslandCampina in Spain for many years.

Roel van Neerbos, president FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy, said, “For decades, cheese products of FrieslandCampina have found their way to consumers and customers in the Iberian peninsula. With this acquisition, combining the local commercial expertise and flexibility of Millán Vicente we can further grow, innovate and strengthen our product offering for consumers and customers, in Spain and Portugal.”

Antonio Millán, former owner and CEO of Millán Vicente said, “This partnership allows the business and people to further grow and succeed under the ownership of FrieslandCampina.”

Millán will remain involved to further grow the business, which will be fully integrated in the Iberian business of FrieslandCampina.
