Each bar is made of quark and coated in either Belgian milk chocolate, caramel or toffee glaze. The smooth centre has a thick and creamy taste like yogurt and the texture of a cheesecake.
‘Best New Brand’
YAAR, created by entrepreneur Andrei Garbuz, won ‘Best New Brand’ at the World Dairy Innovation Awards, at the 13th Global Dairy Congress in Lisbon, Portugal in June 2019.
“YAAR has pioneered a new category of handheld dairy snack bars. The listing in Ocado will make our product available to more consumers than before and allow the brand to meet demand for spoon-free dairy,” said Garbuz.
“YAAR bars combine the goodness of quark, which is high in protein and low in lactose and sugar, with an indulgent taste. They are an ideal snacking alternative to yogurts, chocolate, cakes and biscuits.”
According to Mordor Intelligence, the global dairy snack market is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 5.14% during the forecast period, 2019-2024.
It claims, Germany, France and the UK are the major markets in this region. However, growth is restrained due to the rise in lactose intolerance among the consumers.
Asia-Pacific is the fastest growing market during the forecast period because consumers are expanding the population, burgeoning middle class, rising income levels, growing brand awareness and westernization represents key growth drivers in the region. The Middle East and Africa are also expected to grow during the forecast period.
Protein-enriched foods
“Rising popularity of protein-enriched foods and beverages has led to increasing awareness among the consumers to become more conscious towards health benefits related to a dairy-rich diet," it said.
"Rising population, urbanization and increasing demand for dairy products in food consumption are expected to increase the overall demand for diary snack. Increasing innovations in the industry help to drive down the cost of production and incorporate additional benefits to the products. Increasing demands of ready to go food are trending in the market.”
YAAR is backed by Aser, an investment company in sports, lifestyle and entertainment, which includes Leeds United and Eleven Sports in its portfolio. Its quark bars are less than 140 calories, gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and have no artificial colours, additives or preservatives.
The range is available in Ocado in Vanilla, Cloudberry and Toffee, RRP £1.49 per bar.
