Moon Cheese leverages a high protein and low sugar content in its snacks and brands itself as a ‘better-for-you’ cheese product. It’s made from a proprietary drying technology that removes the moisture from cheese but not the nutrition or flavor.
Launched in 2014, Moon Cheese announced a re-branding this month at Expo East in Baltimore. The new packaging design features larger graphics and print that highlight the nutritional facts and benefits.
Moon Cheese contains more than 10g of protein, 0g of sugar and less than 2g of carbs per 1oz serving. In the drying process, cellulose is used as a processing aid, sourced from the bark of birch trees.
Now available in five flavors, Moon Cheese recommends adding the small snacks to salads, soups or any favorite savory dish. They are sold in resealable packages and do not need to be refrigerated.
New flavors Garlickin’ Parmesan and Cheddar Bacon Me Crazy join the re-named Cheddar Believe It, Oh My Gouda and Get Pepper Jacked. Moon Cheese occasionally adds seasonal varieties, and this summer it brought back its Sriracha flavor for a limited time.
Mike Pytlinski, CEO of parent company NutraDried Food Company, said, “We’re pleased to share an exclusive look at our new varieties, new packaging and overall brand refresh with Expo East attendees. As we continue to further accelerate our tremendous growth trajectory, we have energized our brand to reflect that growth and connect more thoughtfully with our audiences.
“Transparency is a core value at Moon Cheese, and it starts with a product made of nothing but pure and great-tasting 100% cheese for all. We are excited to provide consumers with a healthy dairy snack that is available at any time and does not compromise great taste or nutritional benefits.”
The new flavors and packaging design will roll out in January 2020. Moon Cheese is sold at more than 25,000 retail locations nationwide, including Whole Food, Publix, Target, Wegmans and Shop Rite.
