UK dairy company McQueens Dairies has opened a new distribution depot in Sheffield.

The new depot in Atlas North Industrial Estate will initially employ 15 milk delivery staff to serve customers in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire. That number is expected to double during 2021.

Russell Chalkley, logistics site manager at McQueens Dairies said, “Our new Sheffield distribution centre is our seventh in the north of England. It will join our busy depots in Mansfield, Huddersfield, Warrington, Preston and Stockton on Tees, which we recently opened to meet demand in the north east of England.

“We have already created 15 new jobs at this new depot and we are looking to double that in the next twelve months to accommodate the growth we expect in this year. As well as delivering in Sheffield we’ll also be delivering across South Yorkshire including Barnsley, Doncaster, Worksop and across to Gainsborough as well as south to Chesterfield.”

In addition to milk delivery, the company also delivers milk alternatives, orange juice, apple juice and free-range eggs.

Ruairidh McQueen said, “Customers have always been at the heart of our business and who have made it the success it is. We still deliver milk to people who have been customers since we started the company 25 years ago. McQueens Dairies remain committed to giving every customer, old and new, the very best service and product in the market. We hope people enjoy having their milk deliveries in Sheffield again.”

The company operates 11 distribution depots in Scotland and the north of England, and recently added 14 new staff to its operation in Edinburgh, Scotland. In January, McQueen Dairies opened a depot in Carlisle, employing 22 people.

Mick McQueen, chairman of the company, said, “Across the whole business in the last 12 months we’ve recruited more than 200 new staff. This includes some from sectors that have been hit particularly badly during the pandemic.  We have also opened new distribution depots and a new multi-million pound dairy as well as invested in a new, customer focused website that gives customers direct control of their orders and celebrated our 25th year in business.  Our customers make our business the success it is and we look forward to continuing to serve them.”

McQueens Dairies also recently added Oato oat beverages in glass bottles to its delivery options.
