Israel-based Else Nutrition Holdings, the plant-based baby, toddler and children nutrition company, has been granted, and registered a Canadian patent.

The patent claims cover the formulation composition for use in an infant and/or toddler formulation.

Else, which already holds a worldwide patent covering its 100% plant-based toddler and infant formulas, has received a grant notice from the Canadian Patent Office on the composition of its proprietary formulation, for use in a non-dairy infant and/or toddler formula. The patented composition provides the necessary proteins, amino-acids and other nutrients needed in a single food serving for a whole balanced nutrition.

"The growth of our intellectual property portfolio in the Canadian market is timely as we get set to expand our North American presence," said Hamutal Yitzhak, CEO and co-founder of Else Nutrition.

"Our Plant-Based formulation has functional and meaningful applications to a wide range of potential consumer markets. While we remain laser-focused on the launch of our baby products, our IP can also help serve the rapidly growing $3bn plant-based food market in Canada, giving consumers, nutritious Clean Label, whole food-based offerings," she added.

Else Nutrition already holds a global patent for its novel, whole food, plant-based formulation, with plans to extend into other geographies and market segments.

The company has also signed an agreement with US based international online retailer of wellness and nutrition products, iHerb Inc. Else Nutrition said the agreement opens a gateway to global sales of Else Nutrition products beyond the US, to more than 180 countries.

"Partnering with iHerb is an exciting development on multiple levels,” said Yitzhak.

"In addition to our mutual commitment to support a healthier, more sustainable planet, iHerb immediately enables Else to expand our product offering globally into hundreds of new countries and markets including Canada and Europe."

The company also announced recently that to announce that it successfully completed a trial run of its new plant-powered Complete Nutrition for Kids products.

"Following the successful launch of Else Plant-Based Nutrition for Toddlers and thousands of families adopting the product, we're excited to bring clean label, plant-based complete nutrition to kids across North America," Yitzhak said.

"We've recently completed an independent consumer study of over 800 moms in the U.S., and the desire for clean label, organic, plant-based nutrition drinks is clear – with over 80% indicating intent to purchase. We're aiming to shake up a market that literally has been dominated by high sugar options for far too long.”

Containing protein, carbs, healthy fats and 20 essential nutrients, Else Plant-Powered Complete Nutrition for Kids contains 50% less sugar than leading brands. The Nutrition shakes (Chocolate and Vanilla flavors) will be sold in 11.6 oz cans, and will first be available online in early Q2.
