The company has several divisions: retail, trade, production and export. In 1998, due to the company’s success in the retail sector, it started a wholesale business. Following the acquisition of Multikon in 2013, Szega now represents more than 150 international producers in Hungary.
In 2010, the company opened a cheese slicing and dicing and EU stamping facility in Diosd. In Kunszentmarton, Szega has been producing dairy products from one of its sister companies since 2018. As well as brand name produce, the company now offers private label.
Last year, to meet increasing demand, Szega introduced a plant-based dairy alternative brand, Vegart.
While the home-based market accounts for a significant amount of sales, the company has seen increased exports through sister and partner companies in Croatia, Romania, and other regional countries.
Dairy products the company supplies include Puszta brand cheeses, in a variety of flavors and formats; Irish butter spread; cream cheese; cheese rolls, and grilling cheese.
Dairy Reporter interviewed Adam Gabossy, managing director of the company.
