Lotte Food Pasteur and Spring Sheep Milk Co. sign Korea MOU
Lotte Food Pasteur plans to introduce a new sheep-milk product line for children, which it expects to launch in 2019. Long-term plans are in development to expand into China with infant formula and early life nutrition products in 2020.
Spring Sheep CEO Scottie Chapman said, “We’re excited about partnering with Lotte Food Pasteur, and working with them to bring the goodness of New Zealand sheep milk to Korean consumers.”
Spring Sheep Milk Co. is a joint venture between state-owned enterprise, Landcorp, and marketing firm, SLC Group. Landcorp operates 140 farms across 385,000 hectares in New Zealand.
Less impact
The company said sheep milk contains up to 60% more calcium and 50% more protein than cow’s milk, is naturally richer in many essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids; and its unique protein and fat structure allows for easier digestion and absorption.
It also said early studies indicate sheep dairy operations are gentler on the environment with lower methane emissions and less nitrogen impact.
Managing director of Lotte Food Pasteur, YongKi Kim, said he is, “very happy with the partnership between a premium dairy product brand such as Pasteur in Korea, and Spring Sheep - a trustworthy partner from New Zealand, a country renowned for producing quality milk.”
