The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) has decided not to adopt a standard on draft maximum residue limits (MRLs) for bovine somatotropin after a mammoth debate during its 38th session.

Animal welfare and ethical concerns include the low efficacy of cloning, with high rates of difficult births, neonatal deaths and foetal abnormalities.
